SMACNA Western Washington is a trade association and Local Chapter of the Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors National Association (SMACNA). *SMACNA Contractors, which include JMI are considered HVAC and Sheet Metal Experts.
This year, a panel of industry experts judged SMACNA Contractors based upon skill and expertise exhibited to complete various construction projects, for categories including Architectural. Johansen Mechanical received a 1st place award for skill and creative work on the Stillaguamish Administrative Building Project.
Using our state of art fabrication technology, JMI collaborated with Womer & Associates to to custom design, build, fabricate and furnish Architectural Artwork for the interior and exterior of the facility, which holds historical significance to the Stillaguamish Tribal members. Areas to highlight include: Collaboration between Trades, Innovative Techniques and Construction, level of craftsmanship required to complete this project; 3D BIM detailing; and, specialty metals products and applications used.
* This project was performed by Johansen’s Design/Build and Specialty Projects divisions.
The administrative building originally began as a plan/spec project geared towards the use of a large geo-thermal ground source heat pump system.
However, JMI’s innovative technological design helped reduced the mechanical portion of this project by 40% with approximate savings of an estimated $1 million dollars. Additionally, the owner qualified for local rebates from Snohomish County PUD for it’s high energy efficient system provided by JMI.
