JMI Provides Replacement Cargo Van for Donated Food Delivery
Volunteers of American Western Washington has food pantries throughout the Seattle metro area to distribute food to families and individuals in need.
Serving over 48,000 individuals in Snohomish County per month.
Unfortunately, the Sultan Food Bank of Snohomish County location had been the target of thieves for several months, and on June 22nd, 2016 the facility was left scrambling to figure out how to deliver food and baby supplies following the theft of it's delivery truck.
The food bank uses the truck to deliver supplies to more than 400 households in Sky Valley who depend on this lifeline.
*Within a few days of is theft the food truck was found abandoned. However, the agency did not have the money to pay for a mechanic and until they could come up with cash to assess the damage, volunteers will not be able to drive it to pickup and delivery donations.
In response to hearing about the theft, Johansen Mechanical decided to help by donating a 2008 cargo van to the food bank. The donated van has been the ONLY source of food transportation in the Sultan area; the Sultan Food Bank has been able to pickup weekly routes since receiving the vehicle. If not for the van, the Food Bank is almost certain that they would have not been able to delivery inventory for several weeks following the incident.
